I suppose it's nice to put a face to a name. Or lack of name. Especially since you seem to know so much about me. I shudder to think what your holiday snaps might be like.
It... does ring a bell, in an odd way. I can't quite place it, but I know I've seen you somewhere before.
[Although he's worked with phenomena surrounding Alan Wake, but most reports that he cared about were entirely text based. He had picked up a few Alex Casey novels for fun (who hadn't), but his knowledge of Alan's face was by no means extensive.]
Rather not. I am sure there will be one day you have someone you want dead. And then we will have this between us and it'd be awkward for you to come beg me for help. No. I will just assume one day you will get that itch and not want to do it yourself so I will as a thanks and out of boredom.
That is what it means to be a double. But what have you heard about ol' Al?
Great! Again, knew I could count on you. No and no. :) If it were up to him, he would rather I not exist at all.
I am a story about him. A story that became something like the collective consciousness when people think about him. See Alan is somewhere where fiction can become reality. But the cost of it is a high one. Can't have a meal for nothing. And to make matters worse for him and everyone, really, is there are things in that place that want to exist. We just need to manifest in reality first. And that also is not an easy task for us, either. No free meal goes both ways, unfortunately.
Anyway, when people started making up stories about him until a reoccurring narrative started, it let me latch onto it.
And here we are. Texting late in the night while you try to get me a special title and I keep from having more FBC people get to know the weight of a hammer and how deep a knife can cut out of our budding friendship.
Fun, right?

In fact, if things keep working out, I might not have to take any for awhile.
But, hey, pal... the face you have to my name.
Does it look familiar at all to you?

But I suppose that means you're locked in that whatever place a bit too much, huh?

Are we playing guessing games again, or are you going to tell me where I'm meant to know you from.
no subject
I'm probably adding to it.
I could tell you.
But I like a guessing game.
We don't have enough whimsy in our relationship.

Animal, vegetable, or mineral?
Are you bigger than a bread box?
no subject
Animal.
And obviously.
no subject
And neither do you.
You're outside of my usual circle so I'm guessing you're not known in the sciences.
Popular media?

And not change them.

A visual medium? Since I'm supposed to know your face.

Some visual.
Mostly written.

I'm tired, Scratch.

We didn't even get that far into the game.
But fine, fine.
Not like I work. I understand.
Different hours of operation.
I will be nice and give the answer. You're welcome.
Alan Wake.

... oh. Oh?
[Give him a moment while he flips through some paperwork to a grainy back-of-the-book photo of Alan.]
Well the implications of that are certainly.
Intriguing.

Are you sure you don't have anyone you want me to kill to let you have a better whiskey? You know as a treat for me AND you.
no subject
You flatter me.
no subject
In fact, please assume that I never want you to kill someone for me.
It does, yes. Given what I've studied of Wake.
The resemblance is, actually, uncanny.

Interesting.
I'm starting to understand why you want a special name.
Are you one of Alan's stories? Did he bring you to life?

Great! Again, knew I could count on you.
