— Optimistic: Darling is very good at finding the silver lining in often very grim situations. When he was inexplicably launched into an alternate plane of reality (probably, what actually happened is still a bit shaky and probably classified), there were moments of despair, of course. But Darling also took this as an opportunity to conduct research on his surroundings and the new plane he now inhabited. He managed to get a television working well enough to attempt to broadcast his messages to whomever might be able to pick them up. With a radio and a coat hanger, he also managed to boost the television’s signal so that his messages might have a further reach. He kept count of the days he’d been there. While he did seem tired in some of his broadcasts, he also remained cheerful. He continues putting out messages in the hopes that someone will receive them, despite no evidence that anyone has or even could.
— Hard working: Casper Darling has been Head of Research at the Federal Bureau of Control for twenty-four years (or had been, before being sent to an alternate plane of existence). During that time, he headed up numerous projects and dedicated most of his time to the lab. There were even stretches of time where he’d simply live in the lab in order to work further on his research or a specific project, as evidenced by the cot set up in his office, surrounded by noise dampening foam. Clearly, he was spending a lot of time there. Upon discovering an entity from another dimension, Darling excitedly declared he was “never going home!” and planned on dedicating an entire research wing to the containment and study of the Hedron entity.
— Enthusiastic: As part of his work (possibly assigned by himself to himself), Darling produced a series of PSA and informational videos to be seen throughout the Research Department. These videos were on various subjects vital to the operation of the Research Department in the FBC. In the majority of these videos, Darling is incredibly upbeat and animated. He speaks with passion and enthusiasm, eager to impart his knowledge onto his colleagues. He presents charts and even sometimes uses props to demonstrate the subject he’s explaining. His excitement about these subjects is clear from his tone of voice and body language. He talks with his hands quite often, barely able to contain himself when he gets onto a subject he is passionate about.

— Fixated: Although he is hard working, Darling tends to get tunnel vision when he as an idea to focus on. An example of this is the Prime Candidate project, which the FBC used to find a proper heir to the throne, so to speak, for the position of Director of the FBC. Darling’s pet candidate, Dylan Faden, was a bright young boy with incredible paranatural abilities and talent. Darling pushed Dylan to and past his limits with his training, essentially holding the boy captive in the FBC building. He was so convinced that Dylan was the Prime Candidate that he was willing to break the young man in order to move him forward in the project.
— Morally Grey: As seen in the Prime Candidate example, Darling can often be unethical. If he is convinced something is for the greater good, like finding the perfect candidate for a future Director, then he will put aside ethics entirely in order to reach that goal. The Investigations Department received several complaints about Darling’s treatment of Dylan being inhumane. Dylan did, at one point, kill several members of the FBC in an outlash. Darling took responsibility for the incident, saying that Dylan was “just a kid” and “boys will be boys”. Even after this incident, Darling continued to pursue Dylan as a candidate, to the point where Dylan’s mind broke and he had to be contained so as not to be dangerous. Darling abandoned the project, and Dylan, soon after.
— Stubborn: When Darling believes he’s right about something, there is very little that can convince him otherwise. This stubbornness drove a wedge between he and Director Trench, despite the two of them having been friends for almost twenty-five years. When Darling found the Hedron entity, he was convinced that its powers could be a life saving resource for the FBC. Trench, on the other hand, thought it had the potential to be dangerous, and attempted to stop Darling’s research from progressing. Despite direct orders, Darling continued to press on, fabricating apparatuses that would enhance the Hedron’s powers and make them usable for members of the FBC. He pushed his research with Hedron forward, causing an irrevocable rift between he and Trench. Upon Trench’s death, the two were paranoid, constantly worrying about what the other was plotting. Darling was correct in his theories, but his pursuit of them caused unknown collateral damage, not just in his friendship with Trench, but also in deaths of FBC members who were caught in the crossfire of this feud.

• Character Skills: Does your character have any particular skills that might help them in game? Maybe they have knowledge of firearms, carpentry, fishing, maybe foraging or how to make clothes. List them here in bullet-point form:
